The PSTN switch-off: 31 January 2027

The UK's analogue phone network — and everything quietly running on it — is switched off on 31 January 2027. Phone lines, older broadband, alarm lines, card machines, door entry and lift phones all need a digital replacement. We audit what you have, plan the migration and do it before the deadline does it for you.

The dangerous lines are the ones nobody remembers — the alarm dialler, the lift phone, the fax in dispatch. The audit finds them before the switch-off does.

How it starts

An audit first, then a plan

We start by listing every line and circuit your business pays for — most companies find at least one they'd forgotten. Each one gets a verdict: replace with hosted VoIP, keep the PBX and move it to SIP, fold it into Teams Phone, or cease it and stop paying. Broadband still on the old copper products gets a fibre upgrade path at the same time, because the same switch-off takes it down too.

Migration is scheduled around your business: numbers are ported with no dead time, handsets or softphones arrive configured, and the old lines are ceased only when the new ones are proven. Done early, this is routine; done in January 2027, it will be a queue.

What it costs

VoIP is priced per user per month and generally comes out cheaper than the line rental and call charges it replaces; the audit is the quickest way to a real number. We don't publish a rate card — call us and you'll have a written quote and a migration date after one conversation.

Who it suits

Asked often

Before you call

Do we lose our phone numbers?
No — numbers are ported to the new service. Local numbers stop being tied to geography, which multi-site businesses usually count as a win.
Our alarm and lift lines — whose problem are they?
Formally your alarm and lift companies certify the replacements; practically, someone has to find the lines and coordinate. That's the audit, and it's the part most often left too late.
What happens if we do nothing?
The services stop working on switch-off day. There is no extension for stragglers — the 2025 delay to 2027 was the extension.
